Maker’s Mark is a hand-crafted American Whisky with quality and flavor at the heart of everything we do. Never bitter or sharp, Maker’s Mark is made with sort red winter wheat, instead of the traditional rye, for a one-of-a-kind, full flavored bourbon that’s easy to drink. Pronounced notes of vanilla, caramel and woody oak with a light amber color. Created with a soft, rich, creamy and balanced flavor vision that founder Bill Samuels would be proud to share with his family and friends. Aged in new toasted American Oak barrels, aged to taste, not time and every barrel is rotated by hand for a smoother flavor.
Appearance is medium to deep amber orange, shiny. Not much for legs but a bit vicious. Nose has cherry, vanilla, oak, caramel and toffee and brown sugar. Corn. Lacking the spiciness of a rye-added bourbon. Simple, smooth. With a palate of cherry and caramel, some apple, toasted corn bread, vanilla, sweet toffee. Very sweet, smooth, and approachable, especially for 45%. Vanilla and toffee, toast, black pepper finish. Overall, a great bourbon for the price. Good in high balls, probably not so much in cocktails, without the rye.
