Like all bourbons, the new Jim Beam Double Oak is crafted in charred oak.
It was aged a second time in a freshly charred barrel, which gives it a rich flavor. This second barreling gives double oaked bourbon a deeper level of distinct, spiced oakiness and rich caramel, resulting in a premium, intense, yet uniquely smooth bourbon whiskey.
It also allows the bourbon to have more contact with the flavor-giving charred oak wood, eliciting perfectly balanced woodier and richer depths.
At first, it's a little peppery/oak-y, then waves and waves of vanilla ice cream eventually bring the taste into harmony and tiny bit of fruity malt.
It is best served neat over ice to bring out the rich flavors, or in a whiskey cocktail.
